Tami Hlus, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, has been an integral leader at Texas Health Hospital Rockwall since its opening in 2007. She joined the organization as Director of Emergency and Critical Care Services and was promoted in 2011 to Chief Nursing Officer, where she continues to advance nursing excellence, operational effectiveness, high-quality patient care, and a culture that promotes caregiver self-care.

A champion for safe, reliable, and patient-centered care, Hlus has played a key role in helping Texas Health Rockwall earn recognition as a CMS 5-Star hospital and attain Pathway to Excellence designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her leadership is reflected in the hospital’s continued investment in professional development, caregiver engagement, shared governance, patient and family partnership, and relationship-based care.

With more than 30 years of nursing experience, Hlus brings a strong clinical foundation and a steadfast commitment to lifelong learning. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Nursing Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington, followed by a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Nurse Leadership from Baylor University.

Hlus lives in Rockwall with her son and enjoys cheering for the University of Alabama, where her daughter is enrolled. Deeply committed to patients, caregivers, and the broader community, she continues to lead with purpose, compassion, and a genuine desire to strengthen the place she proudly calls home.
