Junior Volunteer Program
Each Texas Health Resources hospital has specific requirements for their Junior Volunteer program. Here are the basic opportunities, requirements and benefits to becoming a Junior Volunteer. For more information about hospital specific programs, please browse below.
  • Junior Volunteer Overview
    Junior Volunteers are needed throughout each hospital campus in patient care areas and business operation departments as well. Most opportunities are clerical in nature.
  • Junior Volunteer Requirements
    • Each Texas Health facility recruits Junior Volunteers who are 16 to 18 years old. The student must turn 16 no later than May 1 of the year they will be participating.  
    • Must apply early in the calendar year in order to be considered. See hospital specific application dates.
    • Must commit to the entire summer and a minimum of 32 to 128 hours, depending on the Texas Health hospital.
    • Must provide two letters of reference.
    • Must have a valid Social Security number.

Junior Volunteer Opportunities

  • Texas Health Allen

    The Junior Volunteer Program at Texas Health Allen will begin on June 1, 2026, and end on August 3, 2026.

    Applicants must be enrolled in high school and at least 16 years old on or before May 1, 2026.

    Students must complete a minimum of 48 volunteer hours over the course of 8 weeks. The minimum requirement is 4 hours per week. Only two weeks may be missed due to vacation or illness. If you will miss more than two weeks, you cannot participate in the program.

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be sent via email to select candidates. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • Immunization records
    • Driver's License or photo ID
    • Valid Social Security card
    • Proof of urine drug screen and immunization review completed by our Employee Health department (students must be accompanied by a parent)
    • TB test results completed by the applicant’s personal physician.
    • Background check clearance
    • Attendance at mandatory orientation on June 1st

    All volunteer positions are non-clinical. Students will have limited patient contact. Volunteers do not work directly with physicians or registered nurses in providing clinical care.

  • Texas Health Alliance

    Applications are now open and will close February 16, 2026 at midnight.

    This year, the Junior Volunteer Program at Texas Health Alliance will offer three three week sessions for students ages 16–18 to explore healthcare careers, participate in exciting new learning opportunities, and gain experience in a hospital setting.

    2026 Session Dates

    • Session 1: June 2–18
    • Session 2: June 23–July 9
    • Session 3: July 14–July 30

    Volunteer Shifts (Tuesdays & Thursdays ONLY):

    • 8:00 AM–12:00 PM or
    • 12:00 PM–4:00 PM

    All days must be attended due to the short program length.

    Interviews

    • March 16–18 (Spring Break)
    • In person and virtual options available.
    • Qualified applicants will receive interview invitations by email.

    Applicants must:
    • Be enrolled in high school
    • Have a valid Social Security Number
    • Be 16 years old by May 1

    To participate, students must complete the following to be cleared before their session begins:

    • Criminal background check
    • Employee Health visit with a parent (drug screen + immunization review)
    • T Spot/IGRA TB test completed through their physician or an outside provider (student expense)

  • Texas Health Arlington Memorial

    The Junior Volunteer Program at Texas Health Arlington Memorial is open for enrollment to high school students who are at least 16 years of age on or before May 1 of the program year.

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be emailed to qualified candidates. Applicants selected for an interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • Two Letters of Reference
    • Immunization Records
    • Driver’s License or Photo ID
    • Other paperwork that will be provided to you

    Each applicant will also be photographed for identification and potential future badge use.

    Students accepted into the program will be required to complete a criminal background check, urine drug screening, and an immunization review with our Employee Health Office. A TB test will also be required and must be completed by the applicant’s personal physician.

    Students must complete two 6‑hour shift each week over the course of eight weeks for a minimum of 96 Hours completed.

    Applications for Summer 2026 will be open January 13 through March 2.

  • Texas Health Azle

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Azle is active during the summer months only. Applicants must be enrolled in high school and at least 16 years of age on or before May 1 of the program year. Students must complete 64 volunteer hours, eight hours per week over the course of nine weeks.

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • Two Letters of Reference
    • Immunization Records
    • Driver's License or Photo ID
    • Other paperwork we will be providing to you

    Each applicant will also be asked to be photographed for identification and possible future badge photo.

    Students accepted into the program will be required to pass a criminal background check, urine drug screening and review of immunization records with our Employee Health Office. Additionally, TB tests will be required and must be completed by the applicant’s personal physician.

  • Texas Health Burleson
    Junior volunteer opportunities are available at the Fort Worth location ONLY.
  • Texas Health Clearfork

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Clearfork is active during the summer months only. Applicants must be enrolled in high school and be at least 16 years old by May 1st of the program year. Students must complete one 8-hour shift or two 4-hour shifts each week over the course of six to eight weeks.

    Applications for the Summer 2026 will be open from January 13 to February 21st.

    All applications will be reviewed and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant will be asked to bring the following to the interview:

    • Valid ID or Drivers License
    • Two reference letters

    Accepted students will be required to complete/provide the following prior to beginning the summer program:

    • Student/Parent Informational Meeting
    • Student orientation
    • TB testing
    • Drug screening
    • Immunization records

  • Texas Health Cleburne

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Cleburne is called High School Student Service Learning and it runs during the summer months. Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school and at least 16 years old on or before May 1 of the program year. Students must complete 64 volunteer hours, 8 hours per week over the course of 8 weeks.

    Summer 2026 applications will be live from January 12th to February 11th.

  • Texas Health Dallas

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Dallas is called High School Student Service Learning and it runs during the summer months. Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school and at least 16 years old on or before May 1 of the program year. Students must complete 128 volunteer hours, 16 hours per week over the course of 10 weeks.

    All applications will be reviewed and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • 2 Reference Letters
    • Immunization Records
    • Driver's License or Photo ID
    • Other paperwork we will be providing to you

    Each applicant will also be asked to be photographed for identification and possible future badge photo.

    High School volunteers who are accepted into the program will be required to visit our Employee Health department for a TB screening, urine drug screening and review of immunization records.

  • Texas Health Denton

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Denton is active during the summer months only. Applicants must be enrolled in high school and be at least 16 years old by May 1st of the program year. Students must complete one 8-hour shift or two 4-hour shifts each week over the course of six to eight weeks.

    Applications for the Summer 2026 will open on February 16th. Once a sufficient number of applications have been received, the application process will close. No exceptions.

    All applications will be reviewed and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant will be asked to bring the following to the interview:

    • Valid ID or Drivers License
    • Two reference letters

    Accepted students will be required to complete/provide the following prior to beginning the summer program:

  • Texas Health Fort Worth

    The junior volunteer program at Texas Health Fort Worth is active during the summer months only. Applicants must be enrolled in high school and at least 16 years of age on or before May 1 of the program year. Students must complete 48 volunteer hours, one eight – hour shift per week over the course of six weeks.

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates.

    Students accepted into the program will be required to pass a criminal background check, urine drug screen, and review of immunization records with our Employee Health Office. Additionally, TB blood tests will be required and must be completed by the applicant’s personal physician.

    Junior Volunteer Applications for 2026 are now Closed

  • Texas Health Frisco

    This program is designed for students aged 16–18. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age by May 1st to be considered.

    This program is based solely on community service as opposed to career development; there will be no shadowing or observation opportunities with this program.

    Students accepted into the program must provide a valid Social Security card, up to date documentation of all immunizations, attend a student/parent acceptance meeting, orientation, and commit to 64 volunteer hours, eight hours per week over the course of the program.

    All immunizations including a T Spot/IGRA TB Test are to be performed by your personal physician or outside source at the expense of the student. All students 16 years of age and older are required to successfully pass a criminal background check and urine drug screening administered by Texas Health Frisco.

  • Texas Health HEB

    The Junior Volunteer Program at Texas Health HEB offers two sessions and is active during the summer months only. For the 2026 program dates, see below under “Important dates.”

    Applicants must be enrolled in high school and at least be 16 years of age on or before May 1 of the program year. Students must be available to volunteer two, four-hour shifts per week, for four weeks. The student must complete the required 32 hours to receive the certificate of completion.

    We require 2 letters of recommendation from a teacher or mentor. They must be turned in with the application by the deadline.

    Application Deadline: February 19th, 2026, by 5:00pm

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be sent out via email to qualified candidates. Each applicant invited to interview will be asked to bring the following:

    • Two photos (2x2 passport size)

    Mandatory parent meeting on March 25th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. During this meeting we will explain the Employee Health process (see below) and details of the program.

    Students accepted into the program will be required to pass a criminal background check, urine drug screening, and review of immunization records with our Employee Health Office. Additionally, TB tests will be required and must be completed by the applicant’s personal physician.

  • Texas Health Plano

    We are currently accepting applications for our 2026 Junior Volunteer Program. This program is designed for high school students ages 16 – 18. It is based solely on community service as opposed to career development. Every applicant that turns in a completed Application Packet will be given the opportunity to interview for a place in this year’s program.

    Students accepted into the program must provide up to date documentation of all immunizations, attend a scheduled virtual student/parent acceptance meeting, orientation, and commit to 2 four -hour shifts per week for a 6 -week session totaling 52 hours. After acceptance into the program a T Spot/IGRA TB Test must be performed by your personal physician or outside source. All immunizations are at the expense of the student. All students 16 years of age and older are required to successfully pass a criminal background check and urine drug screening administered by Texas Health Plano.

    The Junior Volunteer Program at Texas Health Rockwall is open for enrollment. Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school, have a valid Social Security number, and be at least 16 years of age on or before May 1 of the program year.

    This program is focused solely on community service and is not designed for career development. There are no shadowing or observation opportunities included in this program.

    All applications will be reviewed, and interview invitations will be emailed to qualified candidates. Applicants selected for an interview will be asked to bring the following items:

    • Two letters of reference (download required)
    • Immunization records
    • Driver’s license or other photo identification
    • Additional paperwork that will be provided prior to the interview

    Each applicant will be photographed for identification purposes and potential future badge use

    Students accepted into the program must complete a criminal background check, urine drug screening, and an immunization review through our Employee Health Office. A TB test is also required and must be completed by the applicant’s personal physician.

    Participants are required to complete two 6‑hour shifts each week over an eight‑week period, for a minimum total of 96 volunteer hours.

Applicants must be enrolled in high school and be at least 16 years old by May 1st of the program year. Students must complete one 8-hour shift or two 4-hour shifts each week over the course of six to eight weeks.

    Applications for the Summer 2026 will be open from January 13 to February 21st.

Students must complete one 8-hour shift, or two 4-hour shifts each week over the course of six to eight weeks. Applications will be accepted through February 28th.
